Differentiation with Technology

In a unit lesson technology differentiation that can be incorporated is being a virtual pen pal. ePals is a virtual messaging system between classes that is moderated by teachers (Bizzari, 2020). This unit’s objective is for students to read and write words using vowel teams. Students have the opportunity to write to their pen pals using words with vowel teams that they have been working on. After their writing is complete students sends it to their pen pal. Topics can be given to students or the teacher can choose to let students choose their topic. This would be a formative assessment in the lesson, teachers would read students writing to see if they are correctly using vowel teams in their words. Being a virtual pen pal will engage students through collaboration and creation. Students will be able to collaborate with their pen pal while using skills they are learning in reading and writing. Typically, when students use technology in the classroom, they are working individual...

Designing a Differentiated Lesson Plan

Differentiation Readiness, interests, and learning styles: There are many ways to incorporate multiple learning styles into lessons where students are learning to recognize and read sight words. Teaching sight words using a multi-sensory approach helps every student use different part of their brain (Jones, 2021). An easy way to do this is having students ‘write’ the sight words in the sky. Another way is to use shaving cream or a sand board to have students write the words into the cream or sand. Including these activities are engaging and effective with multiple learning styles. ELL: ELL students are given the opportunity to practice segmenting words with their teacher or the other students around them instead of being expected to do it on their own. This gives them the ability to know how many words (symbols) they need under each word when recognizing the heart part of the word (Holly, 2020). Students will also be given the chance to play with a partner during Sight Word ...

Learning Styles Analysis

Interconnection of Learning Styles and Development As a teacher it is important to know and understand the different ways students learn as well as what each student’s learning style is. This is especially crucial for students that struggle. Students who are struggling to learn new skills and concepts can become discouraged with their learning. Their confidence in themselves and school can be greatly affected by not being taught in the way they learn. As a teacher, tailoring a lesson to fit students learning styles can be an easy adjustment when their learning style is known. This promotes positive growth in students’ development. Effect on Planning and Instructional Strategies Using a learning styles inventory on each student in a classroom would help determine the best way to differentiate instruction. Adjusting lessons to the learners ensures that each students strengths are being used as they are learning which makes it easier for them to understand and comprehend the ...
